NEW TOTAL QUARTZ 9000 V DRIVE 0W-20 FOR VOLVO DRIVE E

1) Why a new engine oil?

To improve our product offer for the premium automotive segment and be among the pioneers with an answer to the complex specification VOLVO VCC-RBS0-2AE, TOTAL launched TOTAL QUARTZ 9000 V-Drive 0W-20. It is a premium synthetic technology lubricant with enhanced Fuel Economy properties ; it provides excellent engine lubrication during the cold start and exceptional engine protection

TOTAL QUARTZ 9000 V-Drive 0W-20 is a premium product belonging to our international range.
This synthetic technology engine oil reduces friction and offers excellent protection against wear, rust and deposits. Specifically developed for the lubrication of VOLVO Drive-E engines when the manufacturer recommends the usage of the oil approved to VOLVO VSS RBS0-2AE and SAE 0W-20 grade.
The specification VCC RBS0-2AE defines the performance requirements of and physical and chemical properties of engine oils to be used in the new range of VOLVO Drive-E engines (VEA). This range is composed of diesel (VED) and petrol (VEP) 2.0, 4 cylinder engines and is spread, nowadays on all the models of the brand.

Receiving the VOLVO VCC RBS0-2AE approval for QUARTZ 9000 V-Drive 0W-20 is just a first step towards completing our product offer for this car manufacturer. We are already waiting for 2 other product approvals from VOLVO - QUARTZ 9000 ENERGY 0W-30 and QUARTZ 9000 0W-30 for the specifications VCC 95200356 and VCC 95200377, respectively.

Volvo’s resurgence since it left Ford’s Premier Automotive Group for autonomous control of its own destiny while being safely part of Geely, one of China’s largest car makers, has been duly noted by most automotive observers. And part of the huge ‘out with the old, in with the new’ revamp is an all-new engine architecture, initially called VEA and subsequently rebranded Drive-E, that does away with T5 and T6 Blue Oval motors in favor of four-cylinder charged engines that deliver on impressive fuel economy, emissions and power output promises. Starting off, there will be a petrol 2-liter that, interestingly, combines a turbocharger with a supercharger, an arrangement that only VW has championed until now. ETi got its hands on Volvo’s new diesel Drive-E offering, which in the highly capable V60 comes with 184ps at 4,250rpm and then a massive 400Nm whoosh of torque that’s available from an impressively low 1,750rpm to 2,500rpm, thanks mainly to the twin BorgWarner
turbos. But, arguably more remarkable, is that the four-cylinder diesel helps the V60 become the first IC engined car in its class to break the 100g/km of CO2 barrier. The corresponding fuel economy figure of 3.8 liters/100km (74.3mpg) is equally impressive. On the road, Volvo’s new engine is smooth, refined and responsive (or as responsive as one expects from a mainstream diesel such as this),thanks to some cutting-edge technology, including Denso’s i-Art, which does away with the traditional single pressure sensor in the common rail and instead features a setup that allows pressure feedback from each injector to be realized, thus making it possible to adapt fuel injection per combustion in each of the four cylinders.
